‘Another women's magazine - the last thing you need’

Despite the superabundance of women’s monthly magazines available – about 124 different titles per month, according to ABC figures - many female readers still feel completely ignored by publishers and do not feel that there is a monthly lifestyle magazine for them.

Goo aims to plug this gap. A UK based, monthly lifestyle magazine for intelligent, liberal women. A feminist take on popular culture that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and has something of an anarchic - almost ladette - attitude in terms of its approach to having a good time.

Frequency 12 issues per year (Monthly)

Cover Price £1.75

Estimated Circulation Initial launch of10 000

Key Reader Intelligent, creative, sassy females.

Distribution Newsstand, through CoMag. Initially launched in London and major university cities only. Strong internet tie-in – Myspace, of course, as well as an interactive website with forums, blogs and separate online content. There will also be cleverly targeted distribution in selected boutiques, record stores, bars and venues.

Justification There are no women’s magazines in this country that feature celebrity interviews and fashion with brains and a feminist sensibility. There is a real lack of intelligent editorial that is topical, funny, and interesting. Goo is witty, relevant, and most of all, proud to be female. It features a broad editorial mix of women's interests, including pop culture, politics, fashion, sex, crafting and DIY, news and celebrity interviews. It is forward thinking, smart, and does not talk down to its readers. Goo has a strong interest in fashion and beauty, although it is dealt with in its own unique way. As well as interesting articles the magazine will feature in-depth entertainment reviews. Goo is humorous, perceptive and well designed.

USP An intelligent, forward-thinking, humorous and slightly anarchic women’s monthly.
